eoc and command post feeds on the cheap
I have been involved with many different types of command posts and Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) in the past. A key element for all of them includes mechanisms for displaying information on the status of an emergency or disaster. The more sophisticated of these centers had audio visual systems that cost $600K or more.
Not every organization can afford that level of cost for displaying information, thus I’m sharing the Hyperwall The company has different solutions for different applications and price points. Their newest version runs off a single PC and the software allows you to have six different feeds displayed in windows on one screen. This includes live video and photos. They hope to expand the displays up to 12 at some point in the future—as an upgrade in software. The key point is the cost, which is $4K.
This makes the system affordable for almost any jurisdiction that perhaps only has a conference room that they designate as their EOC during emergencies. The size of the system also makes it applicable for mobile command vehicles/trailers.
And, one thing I always check out is the company that offers the technology. Hyperwall has been around since 2008, so it is not a fly-by-night outfit and will be there in the future when you want that upgrade.
