not official, but Cameron Hamilton may go back to fema as administrator
At this point it is not official, but the New York Times is reporting, Trump to Pick Ousted FEMA Head to Lead Agency Again
The plus part is that Cameron Hamilton previously told Congress that he did not believe that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) should be eliminated. He was fired for saying that to Congress.
The downside is that he does not have the experience and qualifications (like the Secretary of War) to run FEMA per law. Does having someone permanently in the seat help vs. the rotating acting administrators—it helps a little.
The fact is that FEMA has been decimated as an organization with the loss of so many people and the institutional knowledge that has opted to leave or been shown the door.
With hurricane season right around the corner (June 1st) I’m sure there is pressure to have someone named. If there is one big disaster or several that occur back to back, FEMA will not be able to meet the challenges that those circumstances will provide.
Hey, Hamilton has not been officially named, so the President can change his mind…or even if he is named…change his mind again.
