when will california get federal disaster funds?
January will be the one year mark for the Los Angeles urban conflagration. While some funds have been disbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) the bulk of the requested funding has not been forthcoming.
See this LA Times article, Newsom, seeking federal funds for L.A. wildfire recovery, is denied meeting with key Trump officials The agency refusing to meet with Governor Newsom was FEMA. He was able to meet with federal legislators on this topic when he visited Washington, D.C.
What is the hold up? Is it because of “Newscum” as President Trump likes to call the Governor? The fact that California is a blue state—and did not vote for him? Or, is FEMA overwhelmed with work due to the layoffs and firings at the agency—so there isn’t sufficient staff to process all the claims from all the states?
As reported earlier, it appears that FEMA has been “slow rolling” payments or denying disaster request all together.
