The slowness of our political system and laws to respond to the rapidly increasing threat of a drone being used to create terror is a tragedy waiting to happen.
This news article is from three years ago, NFL, members of Congress alarmed by drone incidents over packed sports stadiums And, it is not just about football stadiums, but outdoor gatherings of many different types that host thousands of fans watching sporting or music events. Think of all the minor league baseball stadiums around the country.
What has changed since 2023 when this article was published? I follow drone events closely and have not read of any significant effort or progress in adapting to the growing possibility of a drone being used as a weapon.
In recent weeks we have heard of high-powered lasers being used by the military to shoot down a drone and ballon on the Southern Border—with little coordination with the FAA. That type of counter drone weapon will not work in a highly populated area of the nation.
