personnel cuts at fema destabilizing the agency

Here at this blog, I’m tried to just present information I gather from a variety of news sources having to do with what impacts the Trump Administration has had so far on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). An example of this is this article, Officials warn disaster response at risk as former and current FEMA leaders clash in court over mass staff cuts

I think this is a very well written article providing facts and commentary from recognized experts in the field of emergency management and veterans of being in FEMA leadership in recent years. In sum, we are seeing a rapid dismantling of an agency’s capabilities by eliminating staff resources and the earlier purging of institutional knowledge from the agency. A truly large-scale disaster will reveal the deficiencies in staffing and leadership at FEMA. That event will more than a snowstorm.

What is happening at FEMA is being repeated across many other federal agencies. You need to read a national newspaper to get more in-depth information that you won’t get from television or radio news. Many of FEMA’s partner agencies are also in trouble: HHS; CDC; HUD; Department of Labor; EPA; and DOD. Our nation’s capabilities to function in a coordinated multi-agency manner are quickly wasting away.

If you want a pure political commentary from me you can follow me at @ericholdeman.bsky.social which is the platform I have used since 2022 when Twitter/X went off the deep end into a cesspool of hate speech, racist and other misogyny content.
