checking the box on world cup

I did not attend the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) briefing on the world cup that is coming to America this summer. One attendee wrote this about the one hour briefing, “The FEMA World Cup briefing for state and local partners… a wasted hour of my life. No substantial information for state or local governments.”

This happens too many times. A briefing is scheduled and the information provided is such that you could simply glean the same information by paying attention to the topic by watching the news or reading a newspaper.

I call it a “check the box” that we shared information on the event. However, I do think that host cities for those games have engaged more with the local emergency management agencies.
