AmeriCorps Staff Going Away

It would seem that the AmeriCorps program is going to be discontinued. See this AP story, Most of AmeriCorps staff members have been placed on leave after DOGE cuts

AmeriCorps has placed most staff members on administrative leave. That's according to a staff member and an internal memo the person shared with The Associated Press. If this is true than it is another “penny wise and pound foolish” action by the Trump Administration.

As a local emergency manager, I was able to have a number of AmeriCorps volunteers work for me. They all contributed to our disaster preparedness efforts. One was very superior in all aspects and went on to get her master’s degree in business.

As I’ve shared previously, it will take decades to undo the damages being done today. I can categorically say, it will never be the same going forward.
