dhs secretary noem is out

Kristi Noem was fired: “Mr. Trump announced the change on social media, along with a new, and previously nonexistent, role for Ms. Noem: special envoy for the Shield of the Americas, which he said would be a new security initiative for the Western Hemisphere.”

Yes, I was surprised about the speed of her demise but not saddened! We’ll see what new leadership brings. And, she is getting a totally new and nonexistent position to support her wardrobe.

There are a number of potential departmental directors in the Trump administration who are definitely not going to make it the full four years of his term in office. One of those is Lori Chavez-DeRemer, US Secretary of Labor. Google her name and current events to see the hot water she and senior members of her staff have been in of late.

Another candidate to be lucky to make it through 2026 is Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS). She was grilled by several members of a US Senate committee that was reviewing her personal performance and that of her department.

What was significant is that two Republican Senators took umbrage with her performance as secretary in managing DHS.

One of them getting attention was this one, with a line of questioning focused on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA):

‘You failed at FEMA’: GOP senator rips Noem over disaster funds

Other questions and statements from senators had to do with immigration enforcement and also use of departmental funds for television advertisements that she appeared in and the awarding of those contracts, and to whom.

If Noem does leave her position as DHS Secretary, it is likely she might be “booted upstairs” as Mike Waltz the former National Security Advisor was when he was fired from that position and made Ambassador to the United Nations.
