over use of emergency declarations

It has happened again. From the New York Times, L.A. County Declares State of Emergency Over Immigration Raids

As noted in the article, “The emergency declaration, traditionally used in response to events like natural disasters, would allow the county to provide resources for those who have been affected by the raids.” A few years back cities on the West Coast declared emergencies for issues around a shortage of affordable housing—having nothing to do with a disaster.

The examples above are an abuse of “term and laws surrounding emergency declaration.” If you noticed, the Trump Administration is making “everything an emergency” in order to have the powers to do what they want.

All the examples above are an abuse of the term and original intention of what laws were passed to provide for emergency powers for an executive or government when there is a disaster.
