another morale building step by dhs
Imagine yourself put into this position, DHS employees face mandatory reassignments Not content with speaking to the need to reallocate personnel resources, they took a swipe at the good work that has been done by the previous administration, ““DHS routinely aligns personnel to meet mission priorities while ensuring continuity across all core mission areas,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “Any notion that DHS is unprepared to handle threats to our nation because of these realignments is ludicrous, especially given the abject failure at the hands of CISA in the last administration.” What failure was that?
I guess they could care less that you might be married or have a partner who is also employed in the geographical area where you work today. Way back in the old days of the US Army we would joke, “If the Army wanted you to have a wife they would have issued you one.”
This appears to be the too real equivalent of an old joke being played out on DHS and FEMA employees.
Yes, they have a goal of hiring 10,000 ICE agents and that will take a bunch of people to accomplish. If you don’t allow remote work, then I’m guessing the impacted agencies will continue to bleed experienced talent from their rosters.
In the down days of the Boeing Company many years ago there was billboard sign that said something like, “Will the last person leaving Seattle please turn out the lights before you leave.” This was due to the significant layoffs that were occurring. It has a new application for the workforce and capabilities of the Department of Homeland Security. Maybe no one will know where the light switches are located.
