A disaster solution for construction
Emergency managers are not usually involved with things like keeping machinery out of the mud. I can tell you from many “engagements” in the US Army and two armored divisions, mud and unstable ground can make a mess of things. That is why they have an armored vehicle that is a “tow truck” for tanks, for when they get stuck in the mud.
Recently I was introduced to a company that has a unique solution for providing a stable platform for machines of various sizes and type to do their work in a field environment. Check out the description and links provided below. As you catalog your resources for future disaster response and recovery use, this is one you might need to have available. And, for your operational departments that do field work, maybe they can use these for their day-to-day purposes.
Sterling Solutions, that has a solution for disaster response. The 75 year old company has long manufactured wooden access matsthat have traditionally been used to build temporary roads for transmission line construction. They provide firm and safe roads for transport of extremely large and heavy machinery needed to raise and connect towers.
Recently, they’re seeing more interest for using these mats and bridges for both emergency and rebuilding efforts from large scale disasters. The increasing ferocity of storms is resulting in greater damage to infrastructure, necessitating heavier equipment for debris removal, as well as rebuilding efforts.
