old news but still relevant

I’ve been “under the weather” for a month and have not been as prolific in blogging.

In reviewing my old emails I found this from mid-February, Florida House and Senate are debating whether to limit Gov. DeSantis using emergency funds for immigration enforcement

I don’t know the resolution on the funding, but it points to one way that emergency management can get embroiled in immigration issues. I’m not sure if/how/when Blue states have had similar issues with bringing their emergency management offices into the mix or not.

Either way, it is not a good look for us to get entangled in such matters. I think trying to maintain a “Switzerland” approach to neutrality is a good path to take—if you can manage to do so. Recognizing as emergency managers, we don’t call the shots.
